Is work slow for anyone else right now? When I started with my company 8 months ago there was two months of backlog but over the last few months we have been going to jobs that were bid a day or two before. This has resulted in less hours, involuntary time off, etc... We are a little thicker on staff than when I started which might make it seem like there is less work, but it also seems like there just aren't a lot of calls coming in. It's concerning because summer is when we should be busy but it has been like this for about three months now. Just wondering if any other companies are experiencing this and what might be the cause.
 
Ebb and flow of the world. When I was in business I always noticed a slump about now and right after Christmas until Tax day.
 
Your company is still really young.
You advertise much? Have a presence on social media?
Very possible a lot of your targets don’t know you exist.

Yep, July tends to slow down here, but then it picks up in August. I joke about why they always wait until the hottest month to start calling again. There's no rhyme or reason related to the trees that I can see. Funny thing is I get some of my largest projects in August and early September. Just wrapping up a large one now.
 
People go on vacation during the summer. Less likely to be at home thinking about household projects like tree work. Plus, more people are back to work now and not around or, unfortunately, running out of money due to pandemic related issues.

We've noticed it here. Last year was an anomaly in that we were busy as hell. This year is looking more like 2019, which was more or less a normal year.
 
We are still crazy busy, but a hint less so the past couple weeks than we were a month ago. We have a 6-8 week backlog pretty consistently this time of year, but our marketing team is top notch and takes a lot of our money, so that’s a big part of it too.

If you don’t already work with a marketing company to manage your website, social media, and general online presence, you need one. A good one will make all the difference in the world, but beware - it will take 6-12 months before you see a big jump in leads/work, so RUN from any company that promises near instant results.
 
Phone slows just before July 4th to end of Aug. Right after labor day it explodes (same around Memorial day), slows again mid Dec. High pressure sunny days in late-winter/spring following crappy weather the calls come in like clockwork. Best of luck bud and hope it picks up soon. Where is Aurora?
 
I’m slammed, when the phone rings I cringe and wait to get a word in. My first line is that I can come give you a quote two weeks from now, but if I gave you one today and we agreed you wouldn’t see me until November at the earliest. 7 time out of 10 they are not willing to wait, I’m also not getting most of my quotes, but work keeps finding me and my schedule is still ballooned.

Not here booked for 2.5 months and I don’t even advertise. I’m getting 10-15 calls, emails and texts per day. Not even doing estimates until mid September right now Or taking on new customers, we do 75% commercial and 25% residential

Same here
Work is out to end of October
Bids are 5 weeks out and referring at least 2 a day because customers don’t want to wait

if anyone is slow come to Michigan We might be able to work something out
