The stories they see on the news are the worst though. They've seen and heard about stuff on the network news that I never would've let them watch in a movie or show.

In a child it's much easier to see how they play on fears, try to modify behavior, and it's all about selling you stuff.

Same here. I don't want them watching it at all but grandparents house.

Also there is no escaping it because of friends. Also I start to feel like child services is going to show up if I don't let them watch it. It is almost a thought crime.
 
Tell me there are others who are cool with accepting the world we live in and enjoying the time we have in it with people we love and doing things we love? I mean I get it, things are not ideal. It can always be world/society/government vs. You if you want you want to compare yourself to everything and everyone, and there's always lots of bad in the world. There's a lot of people on the planet, and that number isn't going to get smaller, so, I think, there will always be worldwide/society wide/nation problems.

Just take a breathe and enjoy it for a minute. The world can be hell for all I care, I'm living on cloud nine tunin' it all out. And just in case you haven't judged my thinking and already think I'm naive, I don't vote cause i dont think my.vote matters anyway, other than maybe a local ballot for local stuff. Good luck choosing who to vote for in the presidential election. Let me know how it turns out, I'll be ignoring the lies they spew before just doing what the predetermined agenda is.
I just want to live and enjoy my time, i know I couldnt if I was soaking in the news (I have cable) and really thought the Lego Movie for kids had subliminal messages to train their brains
 
Sometimes I wonder if the world isn't that much more in peril than it has been in for a long time (60 years? Which isn't really very long. Just the blink of an eye.)

I have to question is it really getting that much worse or is it just my selective use of the Internet and the peculiarities of my aging personality that give me the sense that we are heading very rapidly towards totalitarianism, systemic economic collapse, severe environmental degradation, and apocalyptic great power nuclear war.

But I believe that all of these things are in fact true and it isn't just a distorted perspective.
 
It is odd that with all of the advances in technology to better connect the world and the people in it to one another most people tend to not even know themselves or the people they share a home with.

You can stay in contact with your buddies from school and keep your nose in your smart phone all day. But you will never really know your wife, husband, son, daughter, brother, sister, mother or father.

Everything seems to be a distraction. Whether it is distraction by design from some Super-Class that runs the world or it is just simply how we have in a sense de-evovled as a species, I do not know. But I do know that my life has improved dramatically and continues to improve since letting go of the smart phone, t.v., and social media. Instead of watching another youtube video of some kid skateboarding until he inevitably destroys his testicles on a railing, people could spend some time thinking about how to make their life and the lives of their families a better and more sustainable place to live.
