International or Ford

So I have narrowed it down to Altec with either an 09 International 4300 or 08 F750. I'm really having a tough time with this one so I would like as much input as I can get.

Pros and cons that I know of see what u think

International pros:
It's an 09 verses an 08
Seems a lot more tree guys have this truck
Dealer sells more Inter. vs Ford
Has 245hp vs Fords 230hp

Ford F750 Pros.
I really prefer the body style over Inter.
My fleet consist of 4 ford pick ups 3 sterling chassis a
ford product as far as I know, but I heard from a
couple of people they will no longer be making
sterlings. also 1 GMC Chassis. With the F750 is kind
of an image I'm going for.
Chip truck we are looking to order was speced with an
F750 from southco but I guess I could easily get that
specced out with Inter. also.
Its $2500.00 less for being a leftover but I thought
it would have been reduced more because it will be two
years old tomorrow.

LMAO, you'd better start thinking of a bigger truck, neither of those 2 have the balls to lug that crap Altec boom around. With both of those chooses you'd better forget about towing stuff at all with it.

Ford has yet to master the dpf (diesel particulate filter) and a lot of recalls have been issued because of this.

I asked mark c this same question at the trade show. He liked the international. Easier to drive, better turn radius and a flat windshield/not as much hood which made visibility a lot better when dealing with low lying objects (such as fence posts and what nots).

Congrats on the soon to be new purchase.

Eff International. I've had three, and they all had electrical and computer issues.

Whataya mean ya can't tow with a Ford? Here's my F700 towing a typical load. Never complains.

cameron,, i own an international 4900s with the dt 466 ( the best diesel engine international ever made) they break in at 200,000 miles great truck, the 4900s is a class b cdl vehicle 32,300 lbs the 4700 is not unless the suuspension and such has been modified to be cdl weight limit but highly unprobable.. I would go with the international any day over the ford.. Ive driven them both I have a class A cdl all endosements been driving big trucks for over 35 years. go for it!!! any more questions write me happy new year steve p

International is defenatly better to drive, but it does have electrical issues, which can be prevented. Ford would likely have the same issues because International makes the "ford" diesel engine.

FYI Mercedes has made all sterlings as long as sterling has been around, they just used ford's design, and sterling is no longer being produced, so if you want to buy a mercedes product, you'll have to buy a freightliner, western star, or dodge.

International by a mile, and I don't even own one, but wish I did. Everyone I've talked to loves theirs.

Go for a real truck if your going to buy one. Buy that'll last ya Kenworth or Freightliner , least with the crew cab you alot of room for all the illegal immigrats. By the way what is the going rate at Home Depot nowa days?????

Sure beats the hell out of humping chunks of wood, that's for sure. Belongs to a friend; I get to play with it any time I need it.

The shame of that wood is that none of it was worth a dime; it was a lightening-struck tree, and it had spiral splits running in several places about the diameter all the way through the length. Pity.

We have a '04 F-650 chip truck and an '08(I think) International (can't remember series 4400 I think, but it has a dt466 and an auto). The International has a 75' rear mount Altec with an elevator.

We have had issues with both, you probably will with ANY make. My boss hates the Ford and said he would never get another "big" truck other than an Interenational.

Ford makes cars and truck. International makes TRUCKS, they only do trucks no distractions with cars.

only 15mor Hp on the International, but how much more torque, I imagine alot.

I like the International, easier to drive(duh, it's an auto, the Ford is a 7 speed which is sometimes a pain to shift).
I would think the '08 would be WAY MORE than $2500 off.

I would lean towards the International unless they come way down on the price of the Ford.

Id go with the international too. I have had no issues with electric. Two things to consider: Try to stay with similar trucks if you plan on purchasing in the future. It makes it easier and more cost effective to stock maintenance items. Also you will become more familiar with them.
Look into the service departments of the places you plan to purchace. Ask around and see if there are complaints or praises. After the sale is when things could add up if you do have problems. Down time can be costly.
