Jesse, I'm watching this on my BlackBerry so both the sound and picture quality are not that good. Am I missing something? I thought I heard the guy say he got a grand for that tree and you wanted almost 1/2 that to do the climbing? It has to be a big tree. How much time would you spend on the job?

He got 2000.00 on the removal.
He told the people the tree was doomed due to termites.
I saw about 3 hours in the tree....on the phone he said 1.
I ended up lowering my price to 375.
375 for 4 hours climbing with an inexperienced crew.
How much do you charge Jim?

Looks like the crane guy likes to use a bit of EXTRA UP!!! LOL If I had an operator like THAT I would make snap cuts and just have him hold it STEADY until I was OUT of the frickin' way!!!!

Not near as stressful as the last part of the job. Huh???

Yep the last part sucked. I cramped up and had to eat. I was gone for 15 minutes. Joe didnt like that and started yelling at me.

Bark like a dog get treated like a dog.

I ended up threatening him and he called the cops. I have a court date comming up. Threats are a felony in AZ

No WAY! You pull his out of the fire... annnddd lowered your price so now he takes you to court? What a douchebag.

Don't ever be nice to him again. Good luck with the lawyer thing. I'd be pretty damn angry too... in fact, I AM pretty damn angry. People like that screw up the world.

I think that was PT4. PT3 was edited out, due to content?

That would've told the story I bet. I'm wondering why you dropped your price when the job was clearly going awry with the cheaper climber and thus proving your worth? Did he still balk at the price?

As for him potentially killing himself, that had nothing to do with your pricing. The blame would've landed squarely on the shoulders of the co. owner who didn't want to pay for the necessary experience.

Why did you go back after the initial deal fell apart? You're way to into this work, which is cool, but when the spider sense tingles about someone you meet - dump 'em fast.

TH, I think your are really good at getting out of the emotion (at least by the time it gets to TB) and looking at things logically/ sensibly, as well as adding in good business advice in your posts (such as the stop bidding, start selling--I forget the three letter abbreviation you used-- which made sense).

Props to you.

Thanks Sean, It's taken some beating up to get there.

Our love of the work we do has to be tempered by business sense and a conviction of what we're worth.

I went back today to "apologize" I gave him 100 dollars back. He then asked for a ride to get his seriously dehydrated crew some water. I dont think he will take me to court now. All is well.
The End.
