I can't believe the guy posted this video ...

I have seen far worse. It's just what he describes doesn't have the effect he claims. If the tree sits back the hinge is all that keeps it from falling. That short slant will do nothing.

Far better to stack some wedges at 45 degrees then sever the trigger on the opposite side.


He really needs to improve his accuracy so the tree does not hang up.

Ever see Bob Vila's felling demonstrations? Wonder how many people his "expertise" has killed?

At the end of the video, watch the tree go 90° to the side of his notch! Criminal.

Then he repeated it on live tv, and completed the back cut above the entire notch.

Here lies the dichotomy, so many cuts can be made so wrong, yet no one dies. Happens 95% of the time.

The issue is the other 5%...

Especially if you call yourself a professional.

This explains 100% of the poor felling advice on this site and all the others.
