I AM NEW TO SPLIT TAIL CLIMBING.......

I AM NEW TO SPLIT TAIL CLIMBING. I HAD A QUESTION ON IT.
I HAVE A BUCKINGHAM MATER 2 SADDLE NOW CAN I USE THAT SADDLE FOR SPLIT TAIL CLIMBING OR I WILL I HAVE TO GET LIKE A BUCKINGHAM TRAVERSE SADDLE WHIT THE TWO FLOATING DEE RING DESIGN. THANKS OF YOUR TIME AND HOPE YOU CAN HELP.

i climbed with the master2 with the split tail system for years. i've been climbing with an eye to eye for the past couple of years and now use a butterfly2. with the splitail on the masters2 you can clip in both biners on the d ring very easily. i suggest you try the eye to eye if you want a smooth and efficient climb.

Kevin...don't worry, we'll talk you through the split tail change. Very few people try it then go back to traditional.

First step...easy on the upper case. In cyber speak, it's like you're yelling.

I have the Master II and have climbing split tail for about 7 years now. Some people clip into the top 2 webbing loops, some clip both on the center D, and I clip on to the bridge I added on.

What knots are you using?

I have a master II as well and for mine I clip into the center D ring. One question I have is what type of split tail are you looking to climb on? If you're still using the blakes or tautline for now it's not that difficult you just terminate one end of the rope to your saddle and instead of leaving that big long tail just leave a short one with a stopper knot and take your split tail and attach it to your saddle and tie your blakes or tautline with it. That way if you have a branch in your way all you have to do is safety in with your lanyard and then you can unhook one side if you have a branch or something in the middle of your climbing system that you need to get up and past.

I am getting a master 2 saddle, previously i used a versatile. How did you add a bridge to your master 2? sounds interesting!!!

Sorry about that nick my old forestry teacher said it looks professional when writing a question and give a repley.

I am using the French Prusik Split Tail Kit from wesspur.

I live in fresno ca. I was asking some Arborist around here what would be a system to use and they all said the French prusik.

Thanks, Kevin

I swiched back to use of the rope tail w/ a blake
I have a eye&eye for a swaybish (spelling?)but I think Im faster w/ the blake
