Hybrid Cottonwood Removal (Crane)

[ QUOTE ]
Looks like there is a knot tied sling on the crane hook, too.

Good eye Norm. That is true. I don't do that anymore.

Could someone please explain the term "Bomber"!

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe coming from bombproof, such as even a bomb couldn't blow it apart.

In rock climbing, people talk about "bomber" anchors, as in "bombproof", as in I can trust my life to it because it is so "bombproof".

Na. There are a couple of reasons I don't always climb to the next rigging point:

I only have (and want to have for the moment) one groundsman. We have a 9" Bandit with an 85hp engine. The badit does well. I don't want to speed up the operations to just back up my groundsman. Our rate of production is about as good of a 2 man crew could get.

I also am the owner/operator. It is common that I do a lot of work though out the day. Therefore, I also want to spare my body. In the busy season (9 months out of the year) it is common to come home to 2 or 3 hours of phone calls/scheduling in the evenings. After that, I try to be a family guy. But, Ed will say I'm just lazy.

When I used to have a 3 man crew, ya-betcha. I'd be on a race to get to the next rigging point, to eliminate any down time.
