If you really are undecided about where to go, depending what your situation is with family / responsibilities etc. maybe consider getting a van that you can travel in comfortably and market yourself online and on social media as a contract climber willing to travel. Travel around to different states and work with different companies and get a feel for what it’s like in different areas before actually making a full blown move, etc.
I realize this may be an “out of the norm” idea, but if you don’t actually have a reason to need to be tied down to one place immediately and are free to travel and try different things out, why not right?
Just a thought. I wouldn’t just consider your life as a climber / arborist, but everything else as well. Where do you see yourself down the road, what are your goals, what do you value in a place you’d call home, hobbies outside of work, etc.
