Clogger got together some industry veterans, suppliers to the industry and a business consultant/accountant to discuss the effects on the industry in NZ and what actions small to medium businesses can take help them survive, Although some of it is specific to NZ, there is a lot of really good general advice in there that may be of use to others around the world.
Hope this is ok @Mark Chisholm! Its not a product video, just a genuine attempt to get information out to people who might not normally have access to that type of help.

We have a lot of small businesses suffering in NZ at the moment, more due to the total lockdown here than the actual virus. What measures are being taken in the various places where everyone lives, and how are they affecting you?

We are locked down till the 3rd... “essential” business only as per governor orders (Washington state). We got our stimulus deposit in yesterday but word is Trump is delaying the paper checks to millions, in order to insure his name is printed on the checks. It’s a political shit storm....
Lots of scab labor, interpreting the ‘essential’ status. All new construction is suppose to be shut down, but I can show you 5 sites where they are still building. No enforcement, those who are trying to do right are suffering with the promise of bailout.. the big question is do I take the money that’s on the table, or do I suffer it out with the economic implosion on the horizon? Damned if I do damned if I don’t..
Washington state is claiming we are on the downward bend of the curve, but truth is it will flare well beyond the 3rd.

Where to start. Will get to this tomorrow. Head hurting. Was so angry today. 24 hour lockdown. Going on 4 weeks no working. Extended til the 3rd. This is fucking insane. Details tomorrow.
Gutted to hear that. We are looking likely to be about to ease up on our lockdown in the next week (20 April will make it 4 weeks in full lockdown in NZ)

Papers came back from the SBA on the PPP loan/grant. Not sure how this will play out with my unemployment claim. Word is that they won’t know how to implement the cares act until the 18th, and it will take about 4 weeks to process self employed folks. Still grim with a limited pot

Its a lousy situation, you put it very well - Damned if you do and Damned if you don't.
What does your stimulus package consist of?

Our government in NZ has been really good in terms of financial assistance packages for both individuals and businesses. Not saying it has been plain sailing for everyone here for a moment, but we are very very thankful for what we are getting compared to a lot of other countries.
I assume that in most countries that utility work is continuing as it is essential, but everything else is shut down?

Mother nature is in charge here, if this does not get her some respect around the world perhaps she will try something like, IDK, maybe warming the planet.
Preparation, resilience and adaptability. Greed of most corporate and political leaders has made if very difficult for those that earn and contribute to the national wealth, to get their share so they can save for days like these.
Sorry to be negative and rant but the problem is deeper than NOW and I suspect will continue.
Humans should work together like a group of humans. (doubtful)

I feel like things are left up for interpretation as to operating or not.

Here all non-essential businesses are closed but they encouraged businesses who can operate remotely with social distancing to do so.

A primary concern I think is businesses that have a premise where people actual go into.

So we’ve been working but wearing masks during times when we might be working near each other (climber and ground guy), not driving together, telling customers to please maintain distance, no hand shakes, etc.

I don't mean to brag, but we've had more work than I can remember in my twelve years of climbing. I think it has something to do with folks sitting at home looking at their yards and the storms that have blown through the area.

I don't know what to expect in the future though. Eventually people will start to conserve their money. I keep telling myself one day at a time.

I am allowed to work as long as I maintain social distance and the other common sense methods to staying healthy. I’ve done bids and the HO and I stay 6’ apart etc. I live in one of the least populated counties in my state, more cows than people, and most of my work is in a fairly small town and surrounding counties. Not many cases of the virus thankfully. Just before things went south we signed a large contract with a HOA that has helped tremendously with cash flow.

My fear is what the outcome will be later this summer. So far I have won bids that will carry us through June and most of the folks who hire me can work remotely but if the economy goes down further?

We ramped our garden and meat rabbit production and are saving as much as we can so we can weather a possibly slow summer.

...meat rabbit production...

We usually stagger the breeding so we don't have too many at once to process, but we're breeding them two at a time, now. Still staggering them, but we have plenty of freezer space to process double litters each time. Going to start on four new cages this week, and hopefully get started on a new flightpen and coop for more chickens. We're eating a lot of eggs, lately, since we don't go out to eat.
