How close is too close to a tree?

Looked at saving a white oak 22" dbh where they are planning on digging a foundation for a house 10' from the trunk. ...

First kill the grass and then some radial trenching and mulching and logging mats where machines go.
Then look at branch structure; that tree looks topheavy and sprawling so some light reduction might be in order pre-construction.
Then the tree should be fine.

The king approves!!!! Good to hear Guy. That's pretty much what I told her but with regards to the mats, do u think think plywood is good. Steel sheets might be overkill.

More like the joker...anyway i think 6" shredded mulch everywhere, then mats for machine traffic. Steel better than plywood; depends on size of machine, soil structure, etc....

pile brush as a fence; forget the orange plastic.
