Hope for the future!

I called a crane company this morning that I had never used before asking about their daily rates. We got talking about who they have done work for and they mentioned that they were working for a guy that I happened to know today as a matter of fact. He is 75, and yes he is the one climbing off of the crane! Hearing that just totally made my day. I hope that I will still be that capable at 65 never mind 75.

My Dad retired last year at 75, he had 54 years in as a crane operator (bridge construction). His back did him in, jumping off those high tracks all them years kinda gets to ya. He had one accident, back in the 60's. A big nut that held the cab to the turntable worked its way off, cab and boom hit the ground. Luckily no one was hurt.

I hope I can do 50 years in this business, almost to year 25.

Very cool.

My Grandpa lived to 101. First 100 weren't too bad, last one wasn't too good.

Stayed active with the yard work and traveling in his last few decades. Lost my Grandma when he was 87, got remarried at 95 to a younger babe (she was 85).

Hopefully the genepool was counter-act the road I traveled...it wasn't all paved :{).

One of my great-uncles died when he was 92. He was the first born American-Swede in my family. His parents emigrated to MN in about 1886 and homesteaded. Gene farmed and ran a dairy herd for most of his life. He was a great looking and strong man. Alzheimers effected him for the last 10 or so years of his life.

Living right, eating veggies and fruit and using machinery will make our careers long and healthy.

Tom that is awesome you got to hang with such a legend. I hope I will be able to climb when I’m well into my eighties. I guess the key is to never stop climbing and take care of your body. Proper diet and exercise
