I know there are some who have been offended by the comments and antics he has brought to the buzz. I respect a good joke or constructive criticism but some of his comments are more bashing everyone and what they do. The post on the awakenings was uncalled for. The climber or someone in the scenario made a mistake. It was no reason make comments like that. I don't see any good that he has brought here. He has done nothing but ridicule others. I think he either needs to be monitored and censored or he needs to be banned. This is getting out of hand and other have been banned for far less. Any thoughts or opinions?
 
I think we should keep him since Id probaly be next in line for banishment

If holly breaks the TB rules then I would tend to agree with you, if he gives an opinion and you don't like it then that's just life man.

TB is kind of like the neighborhood bar,

What they say goes. If they want to ban him then so be it.
 
I had to smack a good friend a few times to rescue him from a palm tree after he froze up in the top and wouldn't let go. It was for his own good, and he thanked me afterwards when he was safely back on terra-firma.

But I didn't kick him or anything like Holly suggested!

Point them out and I'll bash'em. For one I know said company and trust me it is far, way far, from even beeing a tree service.

Bah I've helped some here, have shown alot of things like cheaper clothes, where to get cheaper gear, Showed some knots helped others learn knots they never even knew. The list do go'eth on.

Do I really have to say sorry when I'm not? Guy should of never been in the tree to start with.

Well I aint touching anyone from Camden NJ with my hand I can say that much.
 
I don't agree with everything ed has said. He has been one of my toughest critics since day one, but Id hate to see him banned.

Although he is a dick (I'm not telling you anything new here ed) he has been pretty helpful in a lot of threads in a lot of ways, mostly playin devils advocate.

I think Jim pretty much nailed it on the head.

Also, the Internet doesn't show sarcasm very well, which ed uses a lot in his posts, which comes across as him being a dick (which he is) but he doesn't mean it to in every situation.

Yep, Holly gets to say his piece just like we all do... but Holly, dude, the way you frame things, nobody gives what you say any value. You come off like you think you're superior to every other arborist on the planet... and you're just a tree guy like most of us.

You've got leadership in your blood, I can practically smell it, but you apparently have no idea how to actually lead people. The negative drama doesn't do the job. The idea is for people to WANT to hear what you have to say rather than blowing your posts off as lame negativity. You write the posts, so you must want SOMEBODY to read'em.
 
Forums for all the potentially great things they could achieve tend (IMO) to end up generally being places where people with shared interests can unwind a little, sure share ideas and thoughts (like fighting to the death) but anything truely earth shattering is probaly going to happen outside of TB or any other forum.

If a poster types things that upset you or offend you but do not give cause for moderators to step in then....

He's not so bad. It's exercise in diplomacy and disposition when some jerk showers acid on the topic at hand and you have to strengthen the structure of discussion. Often they have something useful to ad as well, it's just hidden behind the only way they can dialogue.
 
I feel kinda jerkish even commenting(because I don't really know the guy), but here it goes....Some people call it like they see it. They just see it differently.
I can accept that. here comes the bad joke....let's submit his name the the ISA ethics board...Oakwilt put it way better than I ever could.
 
Nice post Oakwilt, you are right of course I guess I have less time than I would wish so rarely get past the irritation, I recognise this is actually saying more about my attitude than anything else...I repeat a thoughful and balanced post.

Maybe TB is lowering its standards of being professional and we should all vote to reinstate Butch...........!?
