High Efficiency Washing Machine Fix

I currently have to use a front loading HE machine. It sucks! The only way I was able to get my clothes somewhat clean was a process of pre soaking clothes in a separate tub using Dawn, detergent, and borax. Then I would wash them with even more detergent, borax, and 30% peroxide in the bleach tray. This was a big hassle and I've given up. I need to get an old basic top loader asap.

interesting thread. I have now a HE front loader that I have learned to appreciate. few things that I have learned.

especially my work clothes I run through a 30 minute cycle of airfuff in my dyrer pre wash. this removes a great deal of oil infused saw dust, pet dander and hair and as well as skin flakes and dust and dirt. these are often the dirtiest things about my clothes and the airfluff shakes a lot of that out before contaminating my washer with it.

second big thing is that the front load HE washers can't do big loads. this was an annoyance but it has caused me to break up and segregate the wash better... lights darks, whites, towels, work clothes kids clothes etc. if the load is small I have no complaints of the clean. if I get greedy and throw too much in at a time its like I shouldn't have wasted my time. smaller more separated washes are better and there is less cross contamination. dark fibers and dyes on lights.

I throw in various magic powders borax and baking soda... put vinegar in the softener tray. I use gels naptha for spot treatment. don't use much detergent but I use tide cold water because I don't use warm for anything but whites.

I use the extra rinse because I can't stand soap residue in my clothes. look at your clothes in blacklight and you can see detergent stains.

leave the door open when not in use and wipe the rubber.

I run them through air dry again. I haven't figured out how to use the dryer with heat effectively without shrinking and damaging clothes so the airfluff is my best friend for removing dust and lint. I only use heat for drying towels and hang dry the rest. hang drying gives me a break period before having to fold too
