Hi Viz Workwear

Steve Connally

Been here much more than a while
I'm always searching for quality summer time Hi Viz shirts. I hate having my belly area stained and nasty looking even when the shirts come out of the wash. Most of the stuff I buy comes out of the UK because you just can't get affordable quality gear in the states. Either that or everything comes with a shirt pocket that is ultimately full to the brim with saw dust by the end of the day. I like the stuff that is bright on the top but dark fabric over the commonly dirty areas. Arborwear has a kinda ok shirt but it's too black everywhere but the sleeves. I have a nice 2 color fleece that I got from Stand Safe on ebay. Blue bottom and safety yellow on top and most of the sleeve. The only thing is getting used to the zipper pull on the wrong side. After contacting multiple UK vendors I was able to find someone who ships to the US. I got 4 tshirts and 4 golf shirts, all 100% polyester with birds eye fabric. The only bad thing is the tshirts are all yellow but they don't have a chest pocket so I can live with that. Also the cost was awesome. 8 shirts plus shipping for $108 just under $8 a shirt. Thought I'd share this site incase someone is looking for stuff like I am. They've shipped so once I get them, if there is interest I can speak to the quality. For such a low price, I hope they don't fall apart in the washer.

Looking at putting together an order myself. Going to get a few things to try. I have been wanting to get all hi viz uniforms for all the guys but prices have been nuts.

Thanks for the link Steve.Been digging high viz , goodso hard to find. I'm not a fan of the pocket either , but it can be a good barometer of wheather I cut at a good body height or not for the day:guitarra: I like to cut at a comfortable guitar playing position..

Any body around michigan area, meijer's (grocery store) has nice 100% hi viz yellow and orange t shirts, no pocket, five bucks.
Otherwise i rock the goodwill hi viz with random logos/insignias.
I got a nice set of 5 shirts, brand new, Buckman soccer it reads. No idea where buckman is

I haven't worn polyester in the tree only because I can't see how it would stand up for very long getting snagged and all in the tree. I am not the most graceful of climbers and I see a lot of friggin pin oaks.

But I would be interested to hear from Steve on the manner since you seem like the type of guy who would have already gone through every type of shirt imaginable in a quest to find the one shirt to rule them all.

HA yes true true. The tight weave poly shirts don't get snagged like you think they would. I's not like a sweater that you'll pull a pic and have to feed it back in. The fabric isn't designed that way. It usually just tears but not as easily as cotton. I think i've maybe torn 1 or 2 and i've been cotton free for a long time. Most of the tears came from the first generation under armor I was wearing. The fabric has come a long way since they were the only show in town. I like the Stein shirts a lot but they hold a bit of funk after a while and just can't be washed clean. Thats what i'm using now. Long and short sleeve and like them but i'm still searching for the better mousetrap. I avoid cotton at all costs during summer time. It's a killer in humidity

I use to have my guys wear hi vis safety yellow but that stuff got super dirty and stained in no time. I have since switched all my company shirts to red which seems to work out much better. The red stands out nicely too.
