i love working with helicopters. your job looked like it was fun, it's exciting working underneath them. i've never used them for tree stuff but use them on two different projects.. one on mt. mitchell for loading out about 17 tons of rock, and once on stone mt. for humping our lumber up.

the heli guy we use is named mike and he used to fly an ah-18 cobra attack heli in the marines and he is a badass dude, who pulled off some crazy manuvers going up and down these mountains

he was flying a sikorsky s-58 with us which is huge, but we couldn't lift over 1k lbs. because of the elevation

oh and one time, i got helied out to a job in big cypress and my pilot was the pilot from the movie true lies, that was awesome, lol

I have looked into using a heli twice here in Seattle.
Requirements to evacuate the entire neighborhood etc made it unrealistic.
I spent some time watching salvage logging in fire areas near Leavenworth WA. It was wild...they were using some very funky old helicopters... just flying out logs.

bummer, why would you have to evac the entire neighborhood? i could see some houses under the flight path, but..
