haultz lowering device

Looks like the frankenstien to the G.R.C.S. system, most likely have the same purpose in mind. I have seen the GRCS in use and they work great, but the HAULTZ system is new to me.

I' m aggree with Mangoes and treeco...I 've used one time
for cheking, but in my opinion is not interesting
it has two positiv things
-it can turn for 180° in front very fast and easy
-you can use two rope at the same time
but it has two basically negative points
-no winch
-it's difficult to do a smooth desending of the piece
the rope make too acute angle in the sistem ....brake too much

the advantage is that:

1: when you are lowering time after time, there is no hockeling.... the twisting of the rope is reversed back and forth..... if you have ever used a port-a-wrap, or a GRCS you know that your rope eventually gets twisted.

2: you can run 2 seperate lines on it at the same time

i don't have one, and if i was going to spend my money on a lowering device i would buy another GRCS, or HOBBS. but there are some advantages to this system

I hate twisted ropes! My gourndies hate it too.

So, they have one thing going for them. This looks like it will not twist ropes.

Big deal. My groundies and I will take the extra minute to untwist rope. /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thats about it, it doesn't twist the rope. I saw it a couple different trade shows. I can't believe what they are asking for thing. It a bit over priced. Maybe if there was a winch system included it would be worth it. Its a bit too big to using on prunes.

POS (peice of scrap /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Overpriced, heavy and doesnt do anything 2 porties cant do.

A porty can swing till it hits the tree in either direction.

The only benifit I saw when I played with one is no twisting, use a shorter rope or deal with them is what I picked.

The grcs gets used more than the porties by far.

After each lower with a PAW, can't you just reverse the wrap direction for the next lower to prevent twisting?

With a porty no worries, just reverse the wraps. But with the others ... nope.

I personally think the concept has merit but I have never used it to comment.
