Harness Hang Recovery Device

I thought that if one was conscious that it was enough to "sit" on your harness with the leg straps towards one's Knees.

The syndrome exhibits itself when the hung from a dorsal or sternal attachment point, I believe...in that situation "sitting" is not an option that a person would have, even if conscious. If one is attached to the normal central waist location that a climber uses, the problem is resolved just as you suggest, Sergio, if it were to arise at all.

I like how they said average rescue time for a fall is 15 minutes. I bet they are talking about job sites where cranes, lifts, and countless people are around, not tree work. I've been reading recently about suspension trauma and it scares the heck out of me, however I've never atually heard of a fatality related to it in our industry.

A friend had a close call a week ago, gruondie/wannabe climber wanted to try an trim his first palm. My friend should have never let him do it based on his very minimal training and the fact that the temp that day was about 98'. He got up there (40ft) fine finished most of the palm and then started telling Paul how he can hardly see and breathe and he is about to pass out. Paul hauled water up to him and h doused himself pretty good, took about a 10 minute breather and was able to come down on his blakes hitch. The real problem was heat exaustion, but this could have quickly turned into a rescue situation.
