Definitely worth the 30 bucks. I just sharpened 6 chains and a couple were trashed. Made its keep already. Probably get yelled at for doing it in the living room but, I got the windows open now so maybe she won't notice when she gets home. Lol.

The smell of burnt metal hangs for a while. Get out the eau de pine and mask it

Before I got rid of my Foley grinder I learned a trick that makes grinding more pleasant on two levels

Get a scented candle stub. Smellier the better. Once you have the grinding wheel dressed to the right radius take the candle stub and, while the wheel is spinning 'grind' some of the wax into the wheel. The heat will melt the wax into the pores of the abrasive wheel

When you grind the wax will melt a little and smell good

The wax cools the tooth a teeeeny little bit

Best of all the wax gives support to the grit in the wheel so that the grit doesn't wear away. This lengthens the intervals betweeen redressing

Now...get the smelly spray and sanitize the house. First, get the grinder out!

I use wax all the time in work for form grinding, forgot all about that trick when I was chain grinding. Thanks Tom.

Lol, all she said is it smells a little like cat piss in here. I explained that since we had cats years ago and still have the same carpet that anything was possible.
