Grove GMK3050

Interesting, the one crane we work with that has it doesn’t like it, he says it changes his perspective too much. I’ve never run one, so I can’t speak to it myself. Seems handy to save the neck though, for sure.
It does take some getting used to. The boom goes almost straight up. 125 ft and 12 ft working radius.

We have an upcoming job that we have to pick apart some 28 in dbh pines 75 ft away. We have a slight problem with a proximity sensor on the counterweight loading setup. We got it figured out which one was bad and managed to load the rest of our counterweights. It has 6.6 t of fixed counterweight but will load another 5 t of removable weight. Iirc it has 4k lbs at 90 ft radius with 125 ft of stick with a full load. 1004221443_HDR.jpg

Awesome set up. 12’ radius with 125’ of boom is impressive, our 40 ton doesn’t like anything closer than 25’ with 105’ of boom. Most people always think about how far they can reach but occasionally there are jobs where it’s tricky to get far enough away from the tree. Especially on big live oaks where your first pick might be at 20’ and your last brush pick at 90’

Our 35 ton Grove is that way too. 25 ft with 104 ft of boom.

Nice pics, keep them comi
I thought those had 140 or 150' booms
Gmk3050s have a 125 ft boom. The gmk3055 and 3060s have 142 ft IIRC. The 142 has a pinning system that can be problematic and very expensive to repair. I was told by several folks including a good drove tech to stay away from them. We still have a 2 piece jib if we need higher than 125 ft. The 3050 has a fully live boom.
