Ground mats for Tracked Lift...

I've been using AlturnaMats for years for Lift/Knuckle/chip trucks. Swear by them. Just wondering if something better for a tracked lift. Smoother ride would seem better than the diamond traction design.

Or just plain plywood?

Thanks,

The trackMat brand has the option for one side flat, one studded. They’re super durable, though a bit heavy.

Please don’t buy plywood, please. Another option that comes to mind is Northern Tool. They have a mat much cheaper than most, with a nice cleat pattern. Lighter than some brands, and will conform to terrain.

I am in the same boat. I have been eying the VersaMats diamond cleat one side and a smoother pattern on the other. I would think it would work better than the diamond pattern under tracks but not smooth.

I have found on alibaba you can get mats for about $100 for a 4x8 but the minimum order is 50 sheets. Just passing it along.

Thanks all for responding. I do see a better design on Northern. Thought some different patterns and such were out there.

Been out of the "mat loop" for awhile, my Altuna's are 15 years strong without a scratch. (Trying my best to stay away from Ply - one year only).

Get 4*8 since most of the lifts can spin around on one pad instead having to use 2... I've also seen the 3*8 pass get wedged into the under carriage before as well

Otherwise unless you're using them on a driveway or in the rain i don't think it makes much difference if they are smooth or textured

I’m looking for some for my new crane, lets get some of us to split on the 50!

Get smooth on one side and pattern on the other I have 3 on my lift trailer and we just leap frog them, the smooth is good for turning the lift on. Just do not use them on hills, or else your expensive lift becomes a wild crazy carpet ride.

That's why I've been looking at the VersaMats. They have a finer texture opposite the diamond pattern.

Splitting an order might work if you had some guys close by.

Same price.
Liberty Mats are cheaper than Alturna Mats.
And I'm in the market for clear or white so I'm going to pay even more.

AlturnaMats are outstanding for heavy equipment. I'm not looking for something"cheaper" just more medium duty for my 6,900# lift. Less dense and lighter weight would help setup for sure. Line up a few more and less leapfrogging. One long line of 4'ers.
