Gripple cable termination

Yes, I have used Gripple cable clamps on a number of things. However, I have only used the smaller cable sizes, e.g., as hangers for duct work on my dust collection system. To my knowledge, the design is similar on larger units. I have found them to work extremely well both in terms of initial set-up, e.g., length adjustment and when I have had to reset or lengthen a cable, they could be released so that you could reset the sling length. I have also used them to hold up sections of chimney duct work. They're good solid products, but again, I have no experience with the larger sizes.

I've used them on 1/8" plastic cable for putting up deer fencing systems. Pretty neat, very simple concept, just a toothed cam that slips in one direction of pull, and grabs in the other.

I am interested in their use for cabling trees. They seem much better than the typical saddle clamps.

Their heritage in Sheffield, England speaks a lot to me. Sheffield sure has a historic reputation for knowing how to work metal.

If the breaking strength is high enough they might have a place in the kit. It would mean looking hard at the A300 Cabling and Bracing standard though.

They sell them at a local theatre rigging shop in Burbank. I putzed around with one for a while, but it can be wiggled open. I decided it wasn't appropriate for living, moving things.

They are stupidly simple to install, though.
