Great job, I hope to get the opportunity to do the same someday. Great Horned Owl are notorious for trying to raise a family on the most precarious second-hand nests. The deal with parents and nests for any bird species is that when they're in a nest-building or egg-sitting phase they're extremely sensitive to disturbance and will abandon the nest. But... once the chicks hatch they really hang in there and will do near anything to keep them alive. Goggles and a helmet plus a heavy shirt or leathers are mandatory when you're near the nest with most raptors. They go for the head and their talons are nasty!
There's a GHO nest with new chicks near where I live, luckly they chose a former Red-tailed Hawk nest that is built like Fort Knox. They shouldn't be needing any help with falling chicks.
