Grad School

So as the subject implies, I am thinking about Grad school, and kinda want to do it on a subject dealing with rigging forces and tree dynamics and such.
Does anyone have know of an interesting area of focus with something like that or know of a good school that offers a grad program like that. I am graduating from Point, but my advisor said it would be a good idea to do grad school somewhere else for "more learning opertunities"
Anyway, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest way to find a good grad school is to go on google and search forestry graduate schools. Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Minnesota have fantastic graduate programs.

A buddy of mine went to Ohio State out of Point. I just talked with him two weeks ago, he said he really liked it there. If you want me to get you in touch with him, just let me know. He would be more than happy to talk about it with you.

Sounds like you want to focus on a grad school with a good engineering dept. Forestry doesn't really deal with rigging forces etc. Perhaps you could find a friendly engineering professor that would encourage an independent study in tree dynamics.

Check out Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California. They have an excellent mechanical and civil engineering program as well as a great environmental horticulture program, by reputation. Maybe you could blend the two fields for your thesis. Also, Myerscough College in England just started offering graduate degrees in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry.

I most definitely agree with the choice of Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Ca. The instructor for the Arboriculture class was ( Class 0f 76' for me ) and still is Mike Zohns.
Great and wonderful to learn the ropes from somebody who has had the hand in training and learning (you know educateing kind a thing) several of us west coast arborists.
Nice place to spend some time in.
I remember the day I met Mike he asked me to take the final exam for his class on the first day and I missed three questions ( of which I can still remember )
He then asked if I would help assist in class instuction
( Student teacher)
My self and Steve Alvarez were his assitant teachers for the semester.
Steve took the twenty seven guys in the class and I was given the four ladies in the class. I was the lucky one.
I can still remember Ronda Wagner and the three others..

Any how the class was over and I returned to the real world in a hurry because my older brother was getting interested in the family bussiness and I needed to go home and wrestle the bull by the horns.
