Gordon's new Dogbone update

I have some ideas about a thumb screw for the adjuster, I just dont know if anyone makes such a thing. It would have to clear the top of the arm by enough to operate it, but not too much so as to potentially rub something and unintentionally be adjusted. The diameter necessary to clear the top of the arm might not fit between the sides. If the cam bollard can do multiple rope diameters without need for adjustment, that would be awesome. However, it might not be able to be fine tuned to a specific rope like the current version. For people who like to use a lot of different rope types, it might be the way to go, if it continues to test well. Could the two designs be combined to make an adjustable cam bollard? Or would that prove to be superfluous? I am definitly interested in trying the new bollard.

The adjustment screw is a 10-32 thread (black oxide, stainless steel). I take a bit off the end of a 7/8 long machine screw so it does not quite touch the friction link. a thumb screw would have to have a head no larger than 1/2" dia. to fit. My thinking is it is better not to be able to turn the adjustment by hand with a thumb screw that sticks up proud of the top, that could be accidentally turned.
The elongated and tapered bollard is easily retrofitted into any Bone, you just remove the ss cotter, remove the link, turn the adjustment screw until the adjustable brass bollard comes off, then remove the adjustment screw and nut completely, and replace the friction link through the aluminum bollard with the small end pointed in the downwards direction. This allows the fat end of the aluminum bollard to pivot clear for tending the rope when the top arm is collapsed. The ones I am making now are hand machined on the small end to have a very shallow groove intended to guide the rope as it fairleads through the bottom arm upon descent. (as does Tim's)

The tapered bollard sounds cool and I would like to try it eventually, but having the ability to "fine tune" with the adjustable bollard is gonna be hard to beat.
I'm assuming with the tapered the friction is what it is....the adjustable is nice if I'm feeling like I want a little more friction...just give it a turn, if I'm feeling more sporty...loosen it a tad. Nice.

The adjustable bollard on the Bone does have that going for it, in that you can make very fine adjustments, and you can make those adjustments while the rope is installed on the Bone, without opening it up, just while the weight is off. And when the bollard is worn, simply replace it with a new bollard.
