GoPro Helmet Cam

Hi everyone! Just thought I would throw this out to any tech savy and non tech savies. The GoPro HD Hero cam was given to me for Xmas by my SO and will be busting it out at work. I have seen some video of it posted on their website and I think it would be perfect for tree work! I have seen some people have posted hetmet cam stuff already on youtube but just saying this device is epic! Comes in a lexan case and is operable with only two buttons. It also is able to take photos. Can operate underwater(up to 100ft) and will capture sound. It came with two sticky pads for snowboards/surfboards ect, and a silicone laced head/helmet strap that just so happens to fit my petzl vertex best!

I will post what I film on youtube and post the link here if anyone is interested to see what I am up to or to see the film quality of this device.

Happy Climbing!

p.s. ITS HD!!!!

Your going to love it. I got one 2 months ago. It is very versatile and easy to use. It mounts anywhere. Only draw back is it is hard to tell if it is on with out looking at it. The beeps are hard to hear. I want another one soon.

I was just getting ready to pruchase two. I was going with go pro, but they have a couple different models. Is the go pro HD hero the best one for what we do?

Also what editing software are you guys using?

I got the gopro hero not hd. It works good. Im still using windows movie maker but looking to upgrade to something that will do more.
Everything Ive done upp to now has been on Wind mov maker thgough

I like my go pro hero, got two of them and all the mounts and huge suction cups work great. They are super cheap after the HD's came out. I heard the HD's take so long to edit and work with the files, that many HD users end up choosing to record in regular, non-HD. You have that choice with the HD version.

I don't like not knowing if it is on or not, wonder if i turned it on or off and such. Have to keep taking my helmet off to check and this adds time to the day.

since it has a communication port on the side of it, i bet go pro could or already has something like a red led light that could be mounted on your glasses or sheild that would blink while it is recording: THAT would be nice. would have to drill through the waterproof case though.

works awesome underwater too, used it many times underwater (not tree work ;) ).

Oh, my brother told me that Go Pro now has a mount where you can put two together and record at the same time and create 3D videos.

oh, for editing, I'm using vegas pro 10.0. Amazing what you can do with it, takes hours and hours to learn everything though, but good built in tutorials now. Only know 40% likely still.

my past videos were in an old vegas pro software.

my new videos, working on one for weeks now, will be using the new vegas pro 10.0. I think it was around $650.00.
