Global Cooling vs global warming

There is a very large body of evidence and Scientists that agree that the earth is cooling and not "Warming" and I am beginning to believe that Global warming is a hoax. What do you all think, now be respectful if you dont agree.

WOW!! some one who is actually sane!! Good for you !! you mean A Gore is wrong? all of science does not agree?!!!
I happen to agree with you.now notice what alot of the global warming crowd has already begun to do ..... they are changing to calling it "climate change" this way no matter what happens they cannot be wrong!! scary huh??!
Check out "the great global warming swindle."
By the way Gore has already made millions from this and has a boatload of money wrapped up in this like solar panels and wind mills. Not that those things are bad but he is a whore and a fear monger!!!

I even read an article a couple of days ago saying that it is the global warming that is causing the global cooling( it was the environmental defense league that put out the article), so it does not surprise me that they need to save face if they are wrong. I was like wow I guess if Global warming is a Hoax that there are going to be a lot of people with egg on there face.
I am very much a moderate that believes if each one of us does our best to be good stewards of our environment that we will be just fine its when you take it to an extreme either way and start making foolish legislation like our government has been doing lately that we end up getting stuck in the end.

The Tongass, you know what it is and where it's at? Any ideas what's happening there? Know why?

Glacier National Park, guess you might know where that is, I doubt it, but what's been significant about there?

This is a test, only a test. Your answers will start a dialogue that will result in an increased understanding of serious issues that effect you and yours and everyone. Answers that aren't as easy and cheap as AM talk radio, nor as blinding and ignorant, but perhaps important for your more involved realization of things happening to earth and by proxy, humanity besides the New England Patriots and Chevy's 1984 half-ton truck options.

But then I guess Gore probably just doesn't have stock in Coal mining, centralized 1,000MW powerplants, or Halliburton so he's mad his advocacy to get people to quit being Cheneyheads isn't working so well.

Remember, it's "Mission Accomplished" after we liberated Baghdad in four days and found all those 9/11 WMDs and Al Queda training camps in Saddam's palaces! And "our economy ia fundamentally strong"!

Free Bernard Madoff!!

That George Carlin is something else ehh oakie?

Point 1. Tongass, yes I am familiar, yes its in alaska, Yes it is getting gradually warmer there and there are many issues like afids, trees dieing from frost on the roots and other issues.
And yes with out aid I do know why. Surprised??? Let me explain "global warming" the short and condensed version is Co gasses get trapped in the atmosphere as well as other pollutants they trap heat reflect certain waive lengths and fire them right back at us. I am not a scientist but to the best of my limited knowledge thats about it.
As all of us arborists know Trees are a "sink" that means they hold more Co than they release, when they are cut especially clear cut and left in the forest they become a source also when they are removed they also become a negative in sink vs source. In the 1950's the government allowed the pulp companies to come in and cut large amounts of trees for 50 years during that 50 years they cut almost 70% of the LARGEST trees in Tongass, this could be a large contributing factor of the decline in Tongass, both the cooling effect, and the carbon sequester that all of those trees would have had on the forest as whole, over 50 years is alot. That only touches the tip of the iceberg, no pun intended.

Point 2 Glacier national park:
love it its awesome and should be kept pristine. First of all the glaciers have been retreating for the past 100 years it is not a new thing. I am merely bringing up a hypothesis that there is a cycle over thousands of years. One example of this would be the mini ice age which came all the way down to the midwest in order for it to recede it would have to warm up significantly. Secondly the general hypothesis of Global warming is that the build up Co gasses causes reflection of heat which would create the glaciers to melt, however with deeper investigation, even according to al gores own scientist that if we go back many thousands of years that this has happend at other times like 2500 years ago, 4000 years ago and so on which is way before we ever came along, and the Co levels have always risen after the heat not before the heat, there is so much more data but not possible here. Lets look at all the data not just what we here on the news
Oakwilt I appreciate your responce but just because I may not agree with you does not mean I dont respect your view point.
There is much more but I need to go play with my girls.

Whatever words we choose to use to describe what we're observing doesn't matter...to me anyway.

In my second quarter of Forestry school at the U of MN, 1973, I took a class on environmental issues. The professor taught about the changes that were being observed even back then. He may not have used climate change or global warming in the same context as they are used now but his message was that humans have had a measurable effect on Earth. The effect has rapidly increased since the industrial revolution and the increase in consumption of fossil fuels. Add to that an increase in world population and there has to be some measurable effect.

As arborists we are all aware of the differences in the urban vrs. woodland environment for tree survival. How would we be if they only place for tree growth were urban space? Once we have had total effect on the environment that is likely...at least I think so.

Can anyone argue successfully that there isn't climate change? I don't think so. Those sort of changes are quite easy to monitor and measure.

The challenge is to come to grips whether the change is because of human variables and whether the moderating effect of the Earth will be able to absorb the changes.

Years ago Bob Wulkowicz taught me a term that has many uses. If we look at an elevator car as a finite environment what happens when someone farts? What effect does that have on the people who are trapped there until the next floor? If Marv, the guy who taught me tree climbing, were on that elevator everyone would puke their guts out from the addition of such concentrated methane. Two Marvs would lead to fights and possible murder. When the door opens and the care refills with fresh[er] air would the air in the car be pure? How long would it take to moderate the effect of a Marv Fart? You may not know but I do...a LONG FLIPPIN' time!

Oh God, I hate the Patriots. Are they the reason the planet is in so much peril?

And all I know about Global Warming is that Rush says that it is the result of a bunch of "environmental wackos" getting too much funding from the Gov.

I say we pave paradise, and then put up a shopping mall.

I'd like to see data to rebute what Al Gore's chart's on measurable particulate, methane, and sulfur dioxide indicate and when those spikes occur...until then, any reference to his efforts being self-serving money-interested lobbying stinks of Joe The Plumber's claim to being a plumber and Sarah Palin's seeing Russia from her front porch.

The issue with the Tongass has nothing to do with cutting. It's with dying. What's killing the trees and how is that happening? Look into it then tell me about carbon sequestration, releases, and atmospheric abilities to process it.

Glacier wasn't a park until Teddy made it one. There were over 200 named glaciers then and past WW2, into the 60's and 70's and 80's. There are pics taken from space in 1988, and there are pics taken from space in 2001. Today, there are four glaciers left. I'm talking the last 20 years, as with Kilamanjero, the Ross Shelf, and Greenland. 20 years of pics show more than 5 years of Fox News dribble and Cheney dictating what energy science people hear.

Just glad those days are over and voters spoke up. The mandates are clear and change is not only an inconvenient truth, it's a necessity.

Just wondering why advocates of keeping things belching like we've been doin' are all either on probation for - or in treatment to quit oxycontin abuse?

Maybe it should be the prescribed drug to ignore economic collapse as well?

The media on a slow day came across a story about weather change. The editorial board review the article and said, "Change? What kind of change? Our readers want to know what it means! They'll bombard us with letter to the editor asking is it for the good or for the worse."

The CFO (chief financial officer) spoke up, "For the worse."

"HUH?!?" the rest of the board cried.

"We'll sell more papers and create more viewers to sell more advertising if it's a disaster."

The religious adviser stated, "It'll have to be getting warmer."

"What!!" the others exclaimed.

"Yes, with society's moral decline so clearly portrayed in our media we can show that it is becoming h@ll on earth."

The rest took the idea and ran with it. Media giants rejoiced as their stock bonuses thrived on the bad news.

Carlin is right, it's not the planet we should be looking after but ourselves.

Hey guys,

Wasn't Rush Limbaugh nominated for the nobel peace prize?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. The Landmark Legal Foundation was the nominating body, but they had their collective heads up their collective @sses at the time.

Limbaugh should be nominated to be the King of the All-You-Can-Eat Buffet Line.

Ya know just because we do not believe in Gores reasons for "climate change" does not mean we want to "keep things belching" that is a statement of ignorance!!
You love to lump people together and put words in their mouths...........this is why I grew weary of your debates on other threads you are not intellectually honest, nor do you want to understand any one's positions but your own,and then like some medieval battering ram ,shove them down peoples throats............ truly exasperating....... not very good at dialog........monologue YES!!! dialog definitely NOT!!
Look up Richard Lindzen's work. Former global warming Guy.....now ,not so much!!!!! leading climatologist from MIT
