getting jobs in australia with UK tickets

I am a UK qualified arborist trying to get arbor work in Australia. I have all the necessary UK qualifications (NPTC)and was under the impression that these were internationally recognised to some extent and that I could use them to get jobs in Australia, New Zealand and other places. Now that I am in Australia the employment agencies are telling me that I need Australian tickets. Can anyone suggest where I can get more info on this which I can take back to the employment agency? I don't fancy paying $1500 to get all my qualifications all over again.

Screw the employment agencies and their BS.

Your qualifications are recognized by the industry but not a pack of wackers that have never sweated for a living.

I suggest you get the Yellow Pages out and start ringing tree companies. There's work, no doubt. Also search Google and YP online. Try seach terms for Google Tree Lopping and the city for Example Tree Lopping Sydney.

Offer a days trial for bosses who sound hesitant.

What city are you in at the moment?

I am in melbourne. I think the agency was dealing with contractors working for the council. Maybe the council is more on top when it comes to having all the right tickets (they wanted australian Traffic Management, Limits of Approach etc. etc., even for grounding). I'll work for anyone who'll take me (ok, within reason!) but what is the actual law regarding tickets?

Re: getting jobs in Australia with uk tickets

Depends whether the POMS beat us in the cricket or not!

This "ticket" concept is an unknown term to me.

Is that comparable to an ISA certification, but a localized country's municipal version of it?

Also, is it workers that supposedly need thos, or just the company owner?

As a pommy [censored] visiting the convict colony, its obviously in my interests for england to lose the cricket. Go on the aussies!

M D Vaden: Tickets = Nationally recognised certificates which you need to be able to work in the tree game, at least thats how it works in britain. No idea what the score is in australia

Had to look up pommy or pom on wikipedia.

So now I understand a photograph that Ekka posted on another site. The photo was of a billboard advertsing beer.

TOOHEY'S NEW SUPERCOLD

It's a Pom's worst nightmare

POMS GOT FLOGGED! hahahaha

9 wickets fell for 60 runs ... hahahahahahahaaa

When they left Brisbane the plane couldn't take off due to excess baggage .... their bowlers. Hahahaha

When they fly out of Adelaide the excess baggage will be their batsmen. LOL

I like the 7 runs that were scored of one ball in the last minutes ... lol

Some Brits still refer to us as convicts ... but they live in the past.

Most would prefer to live here than there, but they do get homesick as we all do and occasionally return to realise upon returning that they made a big mistake. lol

Many of the convicts that were relocated down under actually were the kind of people you would want to start a nation. (Not meaning any disrespect to the aboriginal peoples everywhere, I'm part Native American myself).
If the industrial revolution put you and most everyone around out of work and eventually you had to steal to feed your family, I would hope that you would care for your wife and kids.

More trivia; if you want work Down Under.

Then look at a post from 12/5;

"Where there is this interesting suggestion for possible work if the fire season keeps up:
With things running rather amok down here. I'm making a suggestion that anyone who has maintained their IMT quals or Remote Operations (Hotshot/Jumper perhaps) might be invited for a 14 hr flight from LAX to SYD & points further at some time in the New Year. We've apparently got some Kiwis arriving shortly for Tasmania as well.
You've already got on your links page the CFA & RFS, but DSE page is www.dse.vic.gov.au & a news page is www.theage.com.au/news/national/towns-on-high-alert/2006/12/05/1165080911348.html.
So hopefully we'll get Xmas done (although missed it in 01/02) but New Year might take its toll!!
Cheers
OB"
