velcro bucks with or without metal, some say the metal ones add pain. if the caddies add more noise clanking around i dont want them either. I dont get to climb that much anymore cause the people round here want to see a guy with a chainsaw fly a bucket. now i see these ultra stiff leather ones pads i think there bashlin. So...lets settel this thing i apreceate the input ( Im 5'10" 180 #s) TAREit UP!!

If your main objective is comfort.....Geckos. Hands down most comfortable hooks I have ever climbed in.

Now as far as the inserts question it is personla choice. Go to A repuatable dealer that has all of them in stock and he will more than likely let you try each out. This question is like what saddle is the most comfortable? it is all personal choice.

I personally climb on Bashlin aluminum hooks with the L pads. Have done so for 7 years, and I love them and would only think about trading them for a set of Geckos.

if you have the stiff leather pads, treat yourself to a jar of Obenaufs leather treatment and LIBERALLY apply to all the leather pads. Work it in, let it sit for a couple hours in a warm room, then reapply and work in again. Your legs will thank you as the leather softens and conforms to your legs.

I have not yet made the purchase plan on it tomorrow
any other vouches for the geckos, and still wondering on the velcro contraversy.

I used to use velcros w/out inserts. I thought they were the best until I bought the bigger leather pads. Thats all I were now. My legs are smaller and the others used to twist.

I must admit humility after climbing with S.Gear about ten years ago, still cant decided on climbers,daa... but thank you for the sway, ever fall thruogh the curtians taking a shower after a windy day
