It seems that my customer's mimosa tree, planted 2 years ago, roughly, has N. cinnabarina. Roughly 7' tall and 1.5" caliper

It has had significant branch dieback. I pruned out the obviously dead and dying, but there is not much left. I sterilized the tool afterward, before pruning.

Treatment options? I'll do some additional research.
