I've been pruning this tree since I was a teenager. It is a 55" American Elm. Awsome tree. Well lest year they were due for anoth injection but they decided not to. Our scout was out to check it out before we injected it this year and he saw some flagging. I bark traced it, found the streaking and it did stop about 15' before the main trunk, So we decided to inject it and remove the limb and hope for the best.

After the tracing I girdled the limb. The limb was all over the house and deck. So we but tied most of it and drift lined it to a clear landing zone. The drift was controlled with a winch. The but hitching was controlled with a porta wrap.

Those are some really cool pics. bud. I always enjoy seening jobs in progress. Big limbs over a house can be a major pain in the @$$! Just imagine craning a 60 inch maple out of a backyard in the middle of downtown only to have the second to the last piece spin out of the sling hit the ground and rebound into the nieghbor lady's brand new bathroom wall. Glad I wasn't cuttin' I was standin on the roof! /forum/images/graemlins/furious3.gif

I agree.

Just a tad on the large size, but what do I care? I've got cable!
