Fuel and Oil bottles

We're back to island work at the moment, doing a few mile hike with saws etc. Any recommendations on msr style bottles for gas and bar oil? Where do you find them, and any brand preferences?

I looked all over for a good quart sized gasoline-approved can...then I realized, it's pretty simple: The canned premix bottles are perfect - I buy the expensive gas for the bottle and refill them when working in the woods.

For oil, I've been 100% canola for a while so there are 20 oz bottles of that. Or I've used empty motor oil quart size and refill

True Fuel 1 qt round bottles are better that Sthil; They seal better over long term, but both are good.

Apparently, Sthil has stopped making the round 1 qt. They only have rectangular 1 qt containers; which are a pain in the A$$ to pour.

For oil, I use old 1 qt Motor oil bottles. I use the ones that have a level indicating strip on the side for filling & to check amount in the bottle.

Thats a really solid idea, but then I won't be as stylish as the hotshots:llorando:! I've bought a few cheap sig stye bottles at thrift stores for bar oil but gas has just eaten the caps and gaskets

How about some eBay shopping for the dual cans. The ones that have mix on one side and bar oil on the other. I’ve found smaller ones that have a gallon of mix and a generous quart for bar oil. Take a loop of cordage around the handle and girth hitch that around the bar nose and pack the saw over the shoulder. It helps the balance and you aren’t holding the can or wearing it.

that'll look more like the hotshots! Not sure about now, but 20 years ago when I went on a few fire trips, this is how I saw the swampers carrying saws and fuel.

Ebay EU has some really nice piggyback containers. Plastic is far thicker, spouts more functional, seal well.
