Fred! You plank!

I think maybe they were doing some repairs like repointing. Seen some work near here being done on a chimney like that one but not that tall. They were using a really big crane with the jib and the guys were working out of a man basket. It was maybe 200 feet tall.

Fred Dibnah is a folk hero in the UK, he died a few years back from cancer. He had his own TV show at one time. He was fascinated by anything Victorian - bridges, trains, steam engines, chimney stacks, industrial mills, canals etc.

He will be best remembered for his felling of giant 400ft plus chimneys in which he actually made a notch by removing bricks at the base of the chimney and inserting wooden props to hold the chimney up then he'd build a huge fire and the props would burn away allowing the chimney to fall.

I like that guy. I can't believe he had the balls to be up there without his safety harness on when he was installing the corner boards.

I hate working in the wind. I noticed near the end his line was blowing way out there. Today I worked all day with rough winds.
