I appear to be insane in this one but its just cuz I had not slept in 2 days and was high on chainsaw fumes and adrenaline.
Ok so Mel knows what this will do to his tree. We are taking out the two big leads that make up the top 1/3.
This will move the COG away from the house.
I have discussed other pruning options and removal for over a decade with this guy since we do all his trees once a year. He finaly asked me the other day if I knew of any safe companies that coyld top it. This is when I gave in and gave him a bid to remove the top 1/3.
I suggested be build a yurt up there to shade the tree and to give me a better base of operations. It would work and look amazing. The options for building off off the final cut are endless(in my mind) but he does not seem to gel with it. Mabey a nice canvase canopy of some kind. I think if the sun does not kill the tree from exposure, this will be fine. Fine as long as it does not STILL fall on the house after being slammed by a 90 mph micro burst. More and m or common every monsoon as far as I can tell.
Here is a little footage of the top...after I topped it a bit some years ago...just the begginning of this vid.
