Footloop out of rope tail?

I remember awhile back seeing a photo someone had where they made a footloop wrapped around a branch/stem from the tail of their climbing line, much like one would use a loop runner girthed around a stem to provide a loop to step into for extra positioning stability.

Does anyone know where this photo is, or does anyone have an efficient idea of how to do this?

I'm looking for a secure loop that could be untied quickly, maybe midline, so you don't have to pull you're whole tail up? I'm sure there's a million ways to do this...Hoping the collective tribal wisdom has distilled a simple and easy technique.

Not something that would get a lot of use, but maybe a good tool for the box...

Thanks

Simply replace the midline 8 with a bowline on a bite, and you now have 2 loops, one for each foot. To attach to the stem you could tie a girth, clove, really almost anything, just with a bite instead of the end of the line. Have fun

Those are good ideas. Thanks.

However, if I remember correctly, the old picture/post that I've been searching for was a bit more simplistic...something more akin to a clove hitch or cow hitch?

It seems like one of those ideas that SingleJack or DSMC comes up with - so simple yet not immediately obvious...And it had a name the "???? hitch" or something...Anyone remember???

I usually have a few webbing slings daisy chained w me and have used those a few times

Bingo!

At least three of them with biners, daisy chained and clipped to your saddle!

Foot loops, speedlines, saw hanger, tourniquet, almost endlessly handy!

Lanyard extension.........even.

Sorry ... took a while, but finally got some time. So, FWIW:

Rope Tail Foot Loop Concept One The Alpine Butterfly with a long loop girth hitched.

Rope Tail Foot Loop Concept Two Double Slip Knot with a long loop girth hitched.

Nothing new here and there are others ...

Yeah, I like the second concept best, too ... EZ on, EZ off - EZ PZ ... and it's easily adjustable.

The essence of either concept and all the others is to simply tie a big loop and girth it to the stem or limb or whatever ...

If you need extra hold on slick stem then you could always take as many wraps as you need.
