Fo Shizzll

[ QUOTE ]
Is anyone familiar with this company?

[/ QUOTE ]Yes I do. It's the company my colleague started one month ago to sell the Rope Slider.
"Shizll" is a Dutch slang word for stuff.
Tamil is working (together with an engineer) on a couple of real gems to make our treework more easy with less material.
Just pick up the phone and give him a ring.

When you do the buying in bulk, than it will save the American Arbo's a lot on shipping.

I said it in the other thread, but the idea of a slack tender that can't be attached midline sounds too limiting. Sometimes I need to reset when I'm up in the tree.

An appropriately sized one of these would be better, imo...

[/ QUOTE ]And how many times in the past ten years was that really necessary?

I hate to be snide but the rope slider looks like a step in a backward direction. It requires the same amount of gear as a Micr o pulley and as mentioned doesn't have the convenience of being mid line attachable. Maybe I'm missing something?

The round ring without edges. A micro pully is still (as little as it is) a bulky thing, but the best part of the round ring without (sharp) edges is that it has the same effect on the line, witch ever direction you pull your line.
When you aren't climbing in a straight up and down position with a pulley, the tail of your climbing line is rubbing against the side plates of the pulley and not 'running' over the wheel.

But heck, everybody is free to use whatever he likes best.
It's just that this "one step back" was in my opinion two steps forward.

i can see the rope slider as a good slack tending device in a lightweight lanyard setup, but i dont believe i would use it on my primary climbing system. i believe mark c has been using a similar home made device on his lanyard...i could be mistaken. i love seeing more and more people throwing their hats into the ring of pushing climbing technology forward and i wish the best for these guys and am excited to see what they have for us in the future.
