Fiddle block

We have only used this fiddle block 4 times and out of those 4 times we haven't showed it much force but two of the four. I can't really state the amount of force applied to it during those two accasions but it was alot. Upon inspection we found that it has our glassed and has stress fractures in the area of bent metal. It truly looks like someone dropped a tree on it with the way of deformation but can a large amount of force applied to this device cause it to deform in this way?

I'm guessing it got crushed under something.
I have the same fiddle blocks and have bent the clevises from excessive force, but have not seen any deformation like this happen. This seems to go against the laws of physics for it happening during a pull.

Thank you, I feel the same way. I actually deleted that from my "og" post that I felt it went against physics to do this under load. But to drop something on it had to have been so precise that it didn't effect or even show signs to any other portion of the fiddle block. It's just got me completely mind boggled.
