Favourite SRS rope?

Thanks. I’ve heard good things about HTP. I’ll have a look at the specs compared to the Squir and Cougar Blue.
Multicenders and hitches don't play well with Sterling HTP 10mm, probably not with 11mm either since the core material/construction is the same. There's been a lot of discussion on this going back years. Great access line but weird core bunching/twisting has happened for the typical up and down climbing use expected for a good climber line.

From the get-go the radical stiffness of the HTP core after regular loading during climbing is problematic for multicender performance.

I loved HTP until it started getting very baggy on me after some serious use. After that it was relegated to light duty rigging line, which it has excelled at due to its durability.

And once loaded up the knotability is gawd awful...

I use HTP with a HH and HH2 fir years.

It doesn't knot well but it will take a knot adequately, especially with the little knotting deeded for SRT.
A slice is nice, but not necessary. Never needed to retire any to rigging use. I have a 250' and whatever lengths the knicked hank was cut unto.

Very durable. I always use a footie with 11mm. Way too small to grip regularly with big hands, even with gloves, IMO.

Same results with 10mm HTP? I love that stuff but my early early attempts with a rope wrench on it were not good.

I do think ropes behave or feel different when canopy tied vs base tied but that’s just my opinion. I still prefer tachyon any of the “ash” varieties for my SRS work line, for me I like the slight “give” but it’s not necessarily a bounce to me, the orange and green “standard” tachyon I swear are a different rope.

When you say that the orange and green are a different rope, do you mean that they feel more static?

Idk how well htp bends under load smoothly.

HH's don't bend the rope at all.
A pinch point more than a bend right? Probably a bend in the mix technically.

I was just looking at the Yale Cordage web site and was glad to see 11mm 24-strand Bandit is back and a return of some of the excellent 11.7mm 24 strands like Calamine and Arrow Frog. I guess I'm a vintage rope enthusiast ;-)
