Favorite "Privacy Hedge" options?

Spruce and pine hedges are fairly popular around here. Honeysuckle makes a nice hedge too. Bamboo would be a nightmare I feel.
I'm in NE Ohio.
Many years ago, I planted 200 E Hemlocks (2 - 3 yr seedlings) along my front tree lawn.
I also planted 200 W Pines along the property lines (recommend by local forester).

The pines were a really bad idea.
The deer ate 90 % within 2 - 3 years.

I have recently planted a couple "clumping bamboo's". Not too vigorous yet.

@John_KAYS It'd be interesting to know how much room you have. I've put up espaliered Pears as Privacy borders. I see a lot of mixed pallisades over here, they'll have pallisades out of Stone or rusty sheet metal, then plant between the ends. I planted some climbing and rambling roses in conjunction with Pathenocissus quinquifolia and Parth. tricuspidata in front of such pallisades. I'm espaliering a Hydrangea petiolaris ssp. anomala just above a wall I built at my place

There is probably about 4' in between the property line and the driveway. So there is definitely space, there is just concerns with maneuvering a vehicle on the drive and wanting some space for the rear end of the car when backing up and turning...

It's not a big deal.

I really appreciate all the suggestions.

Thanks everyone.

I like plants that provide a food source for humans/wildlife... lately, I've been using a couple of varieties of bush cherries, viburnums, chokeberry, chokecherry, currents, gooseberry and goji berry. All of these stay under 12' tall, and some (currents, gooseberry) are under 4' tall.

However... if I can figure out a fast and easy way to weld these together...

Great ideas. The wildlife sure does appreciate it . Be careful with current and goose berry in areas with eastern white pine.
White pine blister rust can be fatal and it needs plants in the current family to infect the pines.

Thanks for bringing this up, this is probably the single most common question I get, and def the most common planting/installation question. In addition to many of the above suggestions, and depending on conditions, I like:
Cryptomeria
Chamaecyparis spp.
Cherry Laurel
C. leylandii
C. nootkatensis
Cunninghamia
P. wallichiana
Green Giant arborvitae

I am in 7A/B, suburban/urban Philadelphia.
