Faltheimer vs Falseheimer

Has anybody else had problems with the Deluxe Fold n Hold cubes from Sherrill? We've got three of them and on all three the rods have punched through the canvas. The cube then doesn't stand up anymore and will fold in on itself at any given time.

On the other hand the Faltheimer which has suffered the same abuse is holding up better, even though its three times as old.

I was told that the gentleman who made the Faltheimer purchased one of the deluxe cubes and the posts broke much easier where as the others will bend with a lot greater angle and not break. I thought about getting the sherill one but spent the money on the other.

The Faltheimer is MUCH sturdier than the Sherrill version. It is well worth the extra bucks, because it will last a lot longer. My Faltheimer has been through over two years of abuse now, and is still as sturdy as it was when I bought it.

Hello guys,

Oddly enough I just discovered the same issue in Pella Iowa yesterday during a Vermeer Customer Day with our rep, Tim Bushnell's cube (the material relax issue at least). Tim's cube (which has considerably more road-time than mine) folds with little more than a stiff breeze. This absolutely concerns me/us. I will be informing our supplier when i return to Greensboro (currently attending Recreational Tree Climbing Rendevouz in CO).

We found that (again, only regarding the collapsing issue) Tims cube collapses easily in the direction that he's always twisted it (according to directions) but not so easily in the other (counter clockwise) direction. Is this the same with you? Greg Good warned me that he'd had difficulty replicating the product with American sources... i did take this into consideration.

As for Heinrich's findings, this I haven't heard. I suspect that by the language, this might be here-say (no insult intended). Is that true? He hasn't reported the rods tearing through to me anyway. We're not "close" necessarily but on this product we have a certain "gentlemans' agreement" for compensation. He's quite innovative.

As for "whimpy cubes" will approve replacement (with the current version) on anything returned and provide a revised model for replacement in the future. Sorry for the problem, it wasn't purposeful.

Safety first!

The information on the posts came second hand from another source. I'm not sure about everything whether it is true or not. It's nice to see you addressing issues with products.

I've got the Sherrill cube and a rod did push through with the same results. I managed to fix it by sewing the rod back into the sleeve but the fabric is so tight I don't think it will hold up very long.

It's a nice tool, but the spontaneous folding was pretty frustrating.

but i have the faltheimer and havent had any rods push out

I have. Mine is probably two years old. It isn't going to last forever though. My Sherrill ones are newer, so I haven't had any problems yet. I'll try to update if this changes.

Where do I send our three whimpy cubes and how is the current version different?

i have had a faltheimer for about 2 years and no problems...

I also have 3 sherrill fold and holds since they came out..... they are great!

if you stow/store them properly you will not have a problem.

one of the guys that i worked with bought a Faltheimer and stored it in a climbing bag... withen 3 months the rods were pushing through

so i think that alot(not all) of the problems could be a storage issue

A question for qualification-

When you say Sherrill cubes...are you talking about the old small blue fold-n-hold cubes? I have had the rod problem with this one.

Or are you talking about the newer and larger black (with red bottom) cubes?? Mine of this type is not yet a year old, so no prolems yet.

In reading through the post i felt some were talking about one or the other (in comparing to the white and orange Faltheimer)

Charly Pottorf sent me a faltheimer about 4 years ago and it's marvelous. I've used it a lot with no wear points so far. When the day comes that it does need to be replaced, I'll replace it with another faltheimer if I can't repair it myself.

Heinrich has already done a lot of research and development on this product. I think it's best to support what he is doing...so that he can continue to improve his product for us.

Either way, if you're storing your throwline on a stick, reel, or 5 gallon bucket...GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!!

love
