A New Kensington man was killed by a falling tree Monday while chopping firewood on his family's property in the Braeburn section of Lower Burrell.

Thomas Anthony Bruno, 36, of the 400 block of Charles Avenue, was cutting down a tree along an access road off Braeburn Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. when another tree broke off halfway up and fell on him, crushing his head and neck, according to Westmoreland County Deputy Coroner Gerald Fritz.

Emergency responders provided CPR, but could not resuscitate Bruno, who never regained consciousness, Fritz said. He was pronounced dead of blunt-force trauma to the head and neck at the scene about 90 minutes later.

This incident and the Lower Burrell incident previously posted is the same incident. Reports from different sources.

Thanks for catching this Oakman. The first report didn't have a name, and I missed the street name in the second one.

I'll pay more attention from now on.

Thanks,

TMW
