falling challenge big tulip through deck

Get a baumvelo; you stand on platforms. Easy Peasy to get up and down without gaffs on a straight trunk, or get a climbing tree stand, using a life-support rope.

How much space is there around the trunk before the deck framing. A big top pushing back will rock that trunk a fair bit, if the force is applied 40' up-ish. You've seen Jerry B's massive pushback with a big top...7' @ 150'.

I don't understand how there can't be any good tree guys to speak of out there, from where I hear about your area..

This isn't logging country... There are some climbers that move around a tree with the best of them around here, but chainsaw skills are weak... I've got 3 rg-100 stump grinders and do my share of stumps.. seen a few decent ones in the last few years only, but the vast majority with bypasses and over cut hinges etc .

Seen some highly experienced guys that worked for some of the top name arborists here, and contract climber types including competitive climbers that didn't even know how or why to cut a clean notch.. Showed one of them just the very basics... he ended up working for another big name local company with 60+ employees, in season... said he was the best faller in the company by far...

My log hauler says that no one drops trees in a tight DZ... they all just cut them down to a short stick that can't hurt a thing..

I guy from Ohio who worked there 6 years said it was free-climb up with spurs to as high as possible, possibly occasionally buck-strapping in, then tie a climbing knot (name unknown), and work. Chunk it down in 3' pieces until it was short of everything. Fall the stub.

A guy in Idaho would free-climb, big cottonwoods, tie-in, and leg-lock limbs instead of lanyarding in.

Nuts.

Bid the job for climbing it and rigging it out and if you get it go from there. I’m about 2 1/2 hours away from you. I’d gladly get it down safely and you clean it up. There has to be climbers near you that could do the same.

I wonder what a professional deck builder would charge to remove and replace the boards. Would a deck legally require inspection afterward? Will the deck be getting professionally remodeled, minus the tree?

And that's a good point about push back.. I hadn't thought about that with the trunk that big... hoping early separation will keep that to a minimum.. as soon as the face closes the pushing back stops and the pulling forward begins.... There is only a couple of inches (2-3)of space to the deck...

So your a little vague on the fact that to produce big forward push you must first have some significant pushback?

Your now thinking about speed-lining this tree from a ladder?

Bullshit/Troll alert. Buckle up folks. It could be another bumpy ride aboard the Murphman Express.

I'd love to see his insurance agent's opinion of this thread with all the "I think I could do this...."

Serious question for you @Daniel you mentioned not being able to stand in spurs which I get, but could you not make the 10-25' climb that your talking about here for one notch and back cut? And how is standing on a ladder rung different for your feet than standing on spurs?

Genuinely curious about that, I don't do much climbing myself but I am interested in keeping my feet from getting bad enough that I couldn't spend that much time in them.

That's close to what I was thinking... but not quite... like the idea though ... might try it

No, do not speedline the butt on a top that large. Pushback from a hinge would also be worrysome, but maybe not more than a good windstorm. But when the weight transfers from the hinge (pushback) and onto the speedline (pull forward), that stem will move around like a belly dancer. And destroy the deck.
You could speedline smaller pieces, and then you'd be paying a climber. And that's what you should do.
Or, pony up for a spider lift and take yo' sweet ass time.

I realize we are having a little fun at Daniels expense here, but are we now encouraging this dumbass to do something stupid, with the very real possibility of breaking peoples shit, seriously hurting himself, or both?
What you say is truth. However, I don’t think Danny gives two shits about what anyone thinks. He gets off on the attention, he said it himself that he was trying to get X number of views within a short period of time so he tried a shock title for his video and posted it here for more views

I personally hope Daniel conducts himself in the safest least risky manner possible. For his, his employee's, and the homeowner's sakes.

Agreed for the most part Evo. The very premise of this thread is Daniel once again trolling and seeking some much needed attention, but he also seems to be looking for approval as well as confrontation. Some complicated shit for sure.

Is Daniel a fucking tool? Absolutely! Do I want to see him get hurt trying to prove a point? Hell No?
