Little help here.... ?
I'm looking for evidence of ANY failed splices in the field..
Not break tests results..
In arboriculture... In the field. Recent.. or in ancient history....
Does ANYONE know of a failed splice? Can you document it?
Not broken ropes.. but failed hand splices or sewn splices.
You can PM or DM me... or text me at: 603.325.2701

I do most of the splices for our crew and never had a problem.I do believe that stichtes are more prone to failure cause of wear and tear.
I am not a certified splicer, but even so,my children climb with my splices, same as we,workers,we rig real wood with our ropes and we do trust them

You show me a splicing certification that extends beyond employees of a particular company and I'll buy you a beer.

I had a 3/4” double braid single eye sling on a block almost fail. Probably happened on last drop, didn’t completely failed, just pulled the bury almost out until the core was only inside half the resulting longer eye. It was one of my earlier double braid splices. No documentation, I think I just took it apart and respliced it.

A few days ago my 5/8 amsteel eye sling did something similar but not while in use... I went to grab the sling and the eye pulled out about 4-6” of the tail. Turns out my lock stitching broke. I reburied the tail and lock stitched it with para cord this time... I highly doubt that will break. I’m just glad I caught it before hand.

I am surprised That Samson and the other big manufacturers don’t offer brand specific splicing certifications. Its probably to much of a liability...
