most escape devices like that usually accept only 8 or 9mm rope, it could be use in our industry thought

most personal escape devices such ast these are not easily installed on a rope due to that fact that they are left installed in a small pouch for instant access when needed. this makes them less then ideal for much of what we do but one of these devices could certainly be used as a self rescue device for a bucket truck.

If you were out of air and the fire was blazin up the steps, you'd hang that hook and go out - I definitely would.

I work part time for a police department and we work closely with our fire department in training scenarios. They have one or two of these they are testing now, I must say I would use one in a heartbeat. Great device, feeds smooth, the anchor is available in a few diff setups, if the hook is not your thing. The hook is nice though to be able to spike into a window or door frame for a really quick escape. All personal opinion I guess.
