I never got a bonus just for staying alive. That would be real nice. I have damaged a few things over the years though. probably would round out to around 50 dollars a month i reckin. Thats a nice way to build in gutters and fences into your acounting. If you think about it, it is exactly the same as saying, if you break anything we withhold 50.

so if I bust a 20 dollar bird bath, would I not get the 50? or would you give me 30. What if I went to the store and bought the replacement myself? Would rolling the chipper into a ravine be expunged from the damage record the following month? or would you withhold that 50 for a good while?

if there were 3 of you working that tree id ding you each the 10 on the gutter. if you put my 30,000 dollar chipper over a cliff youd be unemployed. my groundy backed into an old van on a 500 dollar job, the repair was 608 bucks, i knocked 200 off his bonus only since we had a safty meeting about having a spotter when backing up and he didnt come and get some one.
guess arbor 101 makes the big bucks

the safty bonus is for when i come on the job and your not wearing a hardhat or doing something unsafe i can warn you or tell you you lost 10 or 20 bucks. it an incentive really. the last one i took was a couple months ago after i told my groundman 3 times in one day to put his glasses on, i think im a fair guy to work for

"guess arbor 101 makes the big bucks"

I own my own comany and I do alright for a guy who works alone most of the time.
I made alot more before I went on my own.
Im just saying that a bonus of $17.50 at the end of a week of climbing trees with chainsaw in hand is silly. A slap in the face even.

ok...bring it

I didn't chime in earlier, and I should have. I think it's nice that you guys offer that bonus. It's money workers wouldn't otherwise be getting, and it's certainly more proggressive than any arrangement I have ever gotten.

sorry if a christmas bonus is a slap in the face, ive never turned my nose at a bonus.
ive put on a logging buddy of mine who is transitioning quite well into arboriculture but still would meet with an experienced climber if any are interested.
speelyei, where about are you on the coast?

Willie I think thats a great idea, maybe I can get my guys in there ppe if it affects the wallet.I have a 22 year old climber I trained in ever aspect of his job a total greeny and after taxes he brings home more than a 1000.00 a week seems like he could put his ppe on.Yeah I may use that approach or he could get a taste of the size 14- just kiddin.70 bucks a week thats 3640.00 a year with 4 employees = 14,560.00 guess thats nothing if you high rollin.Dont forget thats has to be equaled with taxes and insurance probably another two gss 16,560.00 -a mere peanuts.I ts hard being a rich bus- owner we know how they make the big bucks ha ha ha ha ha.i think that young climber makes more than me per hour but hey whos complaining I get to what I like and I wear my PPE.

its actually 70 bucks a month, not a week.at 1k per week he must be a contract climber? bonus' are taxed different than wages. also no workers comp on a bonus
