Everbilt (Home Depot) Quick Links?

Anyone ever used these for life support? WLL was listed as 3300lbs or something like that, for the 1/2" or 3/8" link I looked at last night in Home Depot.

Just wondering...

I have. I wouldn't recommend it.
The issue is the lack of quality control/potential casting flaws (did I mention that the home Depot links are usually cast?) that make the WLL more of an average than a well calculated, consistently safe level.

I use the bigol beefy ones to connect to my truck where aluminum biners might get chewed up. I don't buy steel carabiniers.

Good to ask. Bad to buy. Never cheap-out on gear. You get what you pay for. It will pay for itself in performance and ergonomics over time.

Decide on gear choices when using them, not on the couch. $500 for a saddle sounds like a lot on the couch. When you're in climbing in pain because of cheap spur pads, or not able to make a good reach/ cut because of being pinched/ etc, it doesn't.

Resale value is good. Nobody wants to buy a Weaver 4D. You can sell a good, used Treemotion at a reasonable price all day long, if it doesn't work out.

Used to repair fitness equipment for a living, we have had the smaller 1/4" fail on leg press machines with a working load of well under a thousand pounds but we have never had a cable fail even though its only rated at 600 wl. PS the 1/4" ones are only rated for 880 wl....even then with the caveat "not for overhead lifting".

If anyone does know someone looking for a Weaver 4D that was only used 4 times I will make them a hell of a deal LOLs

I don't have a Weaver 4D, but I'm guessing they're made for guys like me. I'm not a pro, and the only work I do in trees is on my own property. I might work in a tree for a couple of hours at a time max, so all-day comfort doesn't matter. Right now I'm doing tree work off the ground maybe twice a week, usually on rope and not on spurs. I went cheap on the spurs and glad I did. They're not comfortable, but I don't use them very much. I don't consider them life support. The life support are the flip line and lanyard. I paid more for quality rope gear and saws. Put your money where it counts--life support systems and gear you use all the time.
