Looking for insight and experiences with eterra and their products. I like the mini splitter cone and possibly adding the stump planer , although I'm thinking it maybe only for full size skids which would be eterra 4500 model.. I believe the mini mount is considered the 2500 model.. but I'm not sure .. any other brands or models I'm un aware of I'd like to learn about as well. Cheers crew! Thanks for your time!

August Hunkie has a few recent videos where it shows a splitting cone in action on a Vermeer mini. Not sure on the make/model.. I have a post hole auger, and thinking of getting a cone for it. There seems to be some 4” diameter ones on eBay for much cheaper than the exterra

I am not all that familiar with Eterra products but I have been using an auger drive and an Atom splitter for several years. View attachment 64343
Looks awesome , what make and model? You've been happy with it I'd assume? Any issues, tips or tricks using one? I like how yours has a nice pronounced flair that looks like it really plows in there towards the end with a wide split..

We have an atom splitter on an anger drive for our mini as well. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Sometimes it seems like it would be nice if the anger drive had more torque as it seems to get stuck easy. I would rather it get stuck vs tear up something on my loader. Seems to really help if you start 4 to 8 inches from the end of the log instead of in the middle. Splitting the log one direction instead of two directions at once makes it get stuck way less.

Fivepoints covered most of the tricks.
The drive is a McMillian low speed high torque 2 9/16" round shank. I can drill a 36" hole for trees with it easily enough. As said start about six inches from the end, watch the grain, and split the logs from the bottom up as the tree grew. A splitting wedge or two really helps with big splits and having a saw near by to sever any stubborn fibers. One thing the splits will have a lot of splinters on them so if you are making firewood out of them you will have a good supply of kindling.
I will lay out a bunch of logs and drill away until I have a dozen logs split logs. Then come back and BMG the split logs back together and saw them into chunks. One cut four chunks for firewood.
It's a great tool for breaking down logs I've chipped several trees with it because chips were easier to dispose of the logs.

i Have to pay to get rid of pine that I can’t chip or get a mill log out of. Most of the logs, if Isplit them once I could chip. I have been interested in come splitters for a while. How do they hold up? What is the best auger to use? The dedicated splitters, black splitter and us pride products are pricey.

So to update this, we recently bought an sk850 and have used it with our atom splitter on our auger drive. It works noticeably better than our sk650. 3600 psi on the new machine definitely makes a difference in the power. It still gets stuck occasionally but not nearly as much. It powers through and pops the log apart.

We used it at a job today today to split up s good sized red oak trunk. I didn't measure it but guessing 26 to 28 dbh. The homeowner was keeping all the wood for firewood so we split up the whole trunk in about 15 to 20 minutes into manageable sized pieces 5 to 6 ft long.
