ETCC

ETCC is going to be held in Vienna, Austria, this year.

We're looking for volunteers to help with set-up, judging and tech'ing. If you've never been to an ETCC, come and check it out... it's always a very lively, dynamic event offering lots of opportunities to meet other climbers and arborists, see new techniques and... just generally have a good time. Unless you've been roped into the organisation, that is.

No no, just joking. Helping to run these events is actually a blast, it carries on seamlessly from competing and is part of giving back, in my opinion.

Re: ETCC

Also, as an extra attraction, we'll be running an Open Ascent Event. We ran this as a demo event and would like to open it up this year to all arborists attending the event as spectators, climbers, judges, techs or whatever. Bring your kit and let's see you ascent techniques!

Re: ETCC

Great event! Great atmosphere & good to meet lots of people.

I will have some videos coming soon, inc head to head footlock & the open ascent. The open ascent event was cool to see the different methods out there.

Photos are up on my facebook already.

Re: ETCC

Ranking after Sat's prelims were:

Women:
1 Anja Erni (Switzerland)
2 Veronica Ericson (Sweden)
3 Philippa Allen (UK)

Men:
1 Moritz Teuerkauf (Germany)
2 Johann Gustavson (Sweden)
3 Fritz van der Werf (Belgium)
4 Eric Buchli (Spain)
5 Giovanni Ugo (Italy)

Masters' winners and European champions 2011 are Philippa Allen and Giovanni Ugo.

Giovanni almost didnt get a run, they pulled the pin due to a bad weather warning, but after a delay decided to give him a run on the proviso he could be called down at any time if it turned nasty.

Glad they didn't, his climb was great, not full of highly technical tricks or gear, he just got it done and done well.

The Masters was held in a large Lime and included 2 stations in a smaller tree nearby.
