"Please mail your resume with salary requirements"

So the applicant has to set his own salary target? how does that work? say evreyone that applies asks for a figure you cant or wont pay, what happens? why not state the salary you are willing to start the position off with instead of fishing for the lowest "bidder".

Just curious how this works.

There are approprate ways to address the "...salary requirements" questions.

Get a copy of _What_Color_is_Your_Parachute?_ or other job-search guides.

Its a delicate dance sometimes to get an employer to pay properly as much as it is to get an employee to fulfill the position.

I never came across this before with an advertised position here in Europe. you only realy have to negotiate your own terms and salary if you aproach an employer who is not activly seeking employees.

Differnt cultures i guess,

Not true here in North America. Employers often request salary requirements to allow them to get a fix on what you may be expecting in relation to your experience, training and skills. They may not wish to create a false impression about a fixed range that may cause qualified candidates to not apply. The co's attitude may be we'll pay whatever if we can get the person we need (within reason of course). Some applicants may have a bottomline they can't go below. Many reasons for this and it allows you to negotiate based on your needs. If the company calls you then you're salary requirements are within the range they can pay and you would be willing to accept.

If you have never been to Longwood Gardens...then do so..beautiful spot...some of the best formal gardens aI have ever seen..also looks like a great spot to work..if I was in that area I would hesitate..

I've been there and love the trees and would take the job if my lease was up but the landlord has me on a tight leash. Weather isn't that bad either. Good luck to who ever gets it.
