Employee Handbook

We need to develope an employee handbook, and I'm looking for direction in finding a template/example of a good one for a tree care business. We're TCIA members, so I've contacted them via email, but I thought some of you Buzzers might have other suggestions.

Thanks

Man, I really like that. My old companies employee handbook read like a law book. Yours is straightforward and in laymans. I got an idea, but what are "advanced raking techniques?" gotta say I like the term.

Sorry, the climbers I know already know it all. ;)

Advanced Raking Techniques means knowing when to use your foot to help move the rake along, knowing when to use a pitchfork instead of a rake, when to rake light or hard, make sure to always rake TOWARDS the truck, ect.

Nice. Those are definately skills that come with experience. It always baffles me when someone comes on that cant even use a rake properly. We once had a guy rake half a yard with the rake upside down!

I'm looking for more of a format for covering questions about an employee's rights/responsibilities. Covering benefits, absences, acciddents, etc. Also maybe a generalized pay scale for positions like groundworker, climber, forman and the corresponding expectations for those positions.

I have a great example, but It's not in format for this. Maybe I can scan it and try to post it. I also have a payscale format based on meeting certain criteria for pay raises. Also job descriptions are very important from my experience.

Thats pretty much what I'm after. Just a format to build our own handbook from. I'm not looking for a ready made book. Just some suggestions on the outline.

Glad to be a part of this forum. I’m a newbie here, Interesting discussion is going on. It is good to know about your valuable ideas.

I like the TCIA template...its great / I also like the groundie info that was mentioned. They both together keep you covered . Good luck!

The handbook is only good if everyone is on board and it is followed by all. If there are exceptions to the handbook.. as a golden child then the handbook fails and the company will have many unhappy employees.
