Employee Bonuses

What are you business owners doing for employee bonuses this year, and how are you computing them? Are you doing it as a percentage of sales or net profit, or a set amount times years worked?

I have my guys on salary, and I have been trying to figure out a bonus system for them. I need some help. Could a few of you chime in and give me some working examples of your system? Thanks

The standard more or less is around one weeks pay. At least it has been that way for myself my whole life. Before or after taxes is your call. Also, how important they are matters.

If bonuses go down from last year you should let them know why.

I'll give you ours from an employees point of view. Two weeks paid holiday vacation. Yesterday was our last day, we go back Monday January 5. I don't know how it's written out from a business standpoint, but to us it's 80hr of pay. I am on call in case of a massive storm or snow to plow but other than that 2 weeks off right now is so exciting!

That's a sweet deal for employees! Smart for the boss too because the actual time at work for us these two weeks is probably only 20 hrs a week or so....
